What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is the therapeutic use of art making to express yourself when words are not enough. The creative process may help you to develop insight into your thoughts, feelings, conflicts, ideas, dreams, and more. It may help you externalize difficult emotions that cannot be put into words and provide an opportunity to develop and refine coping skills. The focus of art therapy is on the creative process and the meaning that you construct from the artwork.  To learn more about art therapy click on the link below.

What Can I Expect from a Virtual Art Therapy Session?

You will be emailed a link to join your private telehealth session. I will provide an art therapy directive and you choose art media that feels most comfortable to you. You can use any materials you have access to at home, such as pencils, markers, scrap paper, etc, or you may create digital art using a virtual white board. After creating art you may be asked to discuss the process and the meaning, if you are comfortable doing so.
